CDI-Cast, CDI Program Compliance: Why physician training is your best defenseProgram Description The Office of the Inspector General and other federal agencies have begun investigating hospital clinical documentation programs. In most cases, the compliance issues could have been prevented if physicians had received the appropriate training in clinical documentation practices. Many organizations take the less challenging route with their physicians by training clinicians and other support staff around the physicians. Today, clinical documentation practices need to involve the physicians, the authors of the documentation. Every organization needs to work through and with their physicians to achieve both high quality clinical documentation and compliance. In this program, you will learn about strategies to engage physicians in the training process. You will also hear about successful results of other healthcare organizations. Specifically, managing and scheduling training as well as addressing the issue of time management, one of the biggest concerns of most physicians, is addressed. Session tools
